It’s time.
Time for the class you’ve been waiting for.
That’s right.
I went to a pole dancing class.
And I loved it.

So let’s start with my very first impression. I walked into a dimly lit room with bumping music and classmates of EVERY shape, size, and color. I love going to fitness classes, but I must say I’m always a bit disappointed to walk into a room where everyone looks the same. They all look like the after photo I’m supposed to be chasing.
But when I walked into this teaser class at Aradia we all looked different, and that put me at ease. I was also soothed by the fact that we were all clearly nervous about what we had signed up for.
We stood around the poles as our loud and confident teacher, Chante, started the class.
I was relieved to see the first part was some simple yoga, albeit with a sexy flare. She encouraged us to let our hands do what they wanted and get loose… and I was hesitant.

Then, Chante started showing us how to walk around the pole, making little x’s with our feet. We made turns, slid up and down, and did that classic fireman’s spin – that was my favorite. I couldn’t stop swinging, and once she put the music on, that was all I needed.
You guys, I was FEEEEEEELING it. The beat dropped and so did my hesitations. I felt the muscles in my arms, in my hips, in my calves, everywhere popping, and I can honestly say my confidence has never felt higher while working out.
I broke a sweat, worked my muscles, and got a well-needed ego boost. While it probably won’t be my primary workout, I will most definitely do it again – seems like the perfect pre-date prep.
Seriously friends, take a class. You will feel sexy and strong, and that’s the after picture I’m actually chasing.
